Business Spotlight
Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse & Cafe

Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse & Café, located in the old JC Penny store on Main Street, is a new establishment built with the intention to serve the people of Greenville. It is owned and operated by Downtown Ministries, Inc., which had previously operated the Mustard Seed Jam House in the basement of the old Bible Gift Shoppe. Fresh Grounds has a variety of facets. It is an upscale coffeehouse with an array of fine specialty coffees and teas, fruit smoothies, retro bottled sodas, pastries, gelato, etc. We have extensively researched our products to create a menu that is of high quality, unique and surprisingly affordable. It is a mini concert hall, where local and touring singers and bands will perform. The main meeting hall will be used for piano recitals, poetry readings, impromptu musical jam sessions, art exhibits, etc. There are places for book clubs, business meetings, study groups, etc. to meet. Fresh grounds is a gathering place for the social life of Greenville, a place to catch up with old and meet new friends, a place to relax and converse over a cup of coffee, a place to engage one another in conversation. Fresh Grounds is also a Christian ministry. The three and a half year long building restoration project was accomplished by the labor of over one hundred volunteers who liked the idea of a Christian coffeehouse in downtown Greenville. Volunteers are now practicing hospitality as they serve drinks and food and engage clientele. Jesus Christ was a servant who cared for, attended to and loved all who came into contact with Him. Our aim is to model that. The old Mustard Seed Jam House was a youth hangout aimed primarily at high school and college kids. Kids are still very important to Downtown Ministries. Our evening programming will focus, not entirely, but primarily on their interests. Fresh Grounds is a safe haven, a good place for kids to mix with and be mentored by responsible adults. Social skills are taught in an atmosphere of good clean fun. Having such a facility in a community our size is a blessing. We are grateful for all those who have supported our endeavor with finances, prayers and with all the hard work done and all the ongoing work. Thank you, Greenville!! Fresh Grounds is located at 172 Main Street, Greenville, PA.. Our current hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
