Celebrating National Volunteer Month!

Volunteers are the backbone this community. I was at a Rotary lunch yesterday speaking about the Total Solar Eclipse that is happening next Monday. At that meeting I learned about some of the projects the group has coming up and it was a perfect reminder to use this month's newsletter to celebrate National Volunteer Month. Join me in recognizing and thanking all of the volunteers in our community.

Volunteering means giving up your most valuable resource.
Your time.

  • Thank you to all of the volunteer board members who serve on valuable community organizations.

  • Thank you to our service organizations who are dedicated to giving back.

  • Thank you to the volunteers who help make places like Fresh Grounds gem in our community.

  • Thank you to the volunteers who help support those in need at places like The Good Shepherd Center and Mercer County Food Bank.

  • And thank you to community members who volunteer that we don't even know about and go unnoticed.

The list is incredibly long when you start to consider all of the wonderful things in our community that have been made possible because of volunteers.

Critzer Brothers Concrete & Construction partners with the Sharpsville school district shop class to deliver a hands-on learning experience.

Sharpsville school district reached out to us at Critzer Brothers Concrete & Construction needing a new sidewalk poured in front of their middle school entrance and their shop teacher had a unique request to use this work as a learning experience for the students. James Critzer, the owner of Critzer Brothers, having taken the Push the Limits shop class during his time at Sharpsville, jumped at the idea to teach the younger generation about the trade we enjoy and love. We started first thing in the morning and the students grades tenth thru twelfth, were able to help throughout the whole process of forming, placing the concrete, and finishing the concrete.

This project spanned across multiple classes and included in total ten students helping their school and learning the concrete trade.
