HopeCAT Artists Unveil Mural Honoring Camp Reynolds and America’s 250th Anniversary

GREENVILLE, PA — October 28, 2025 — As part of America250PA-Mercer County, the statewide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States, Hope Center forArts & Technology (HopeCAT) has been invited to create a commemorative mural at Camp

Reynolds, a site with deep historical ties to World War II. The new mural, installed on the former artillery safe facing Route 18, was created in partnership with Brad Gosser of the Greenville-Reynolds Development Corporation, the organization overseeing what was once Camp Reynolds.

Designed by HopeCAT Resident Artist Jayme McKay, the mural draws upon historical imagery from Camp Reynolds. “Jayme pieced together a composition that beautifully captures both the importance and nostalgia of the camp,” said Francesca Baldarelli, HopeCAT’s Director of Art.

The piece was brought to life through the collaborative efforts of HopeCAT’s Arts Team, including Resident Artist Jayme McKay, 2D Coordinator Ashley Vaughan, Ceramics Coordinator Christian Kuharik, and Director of Art Francesca Baldarelli. The mural, painted on durable panels, will serve as a lasting tribute to the more than one million troops who passed through Camp Reynolds during World War II.

“The America250PA–Mercer County Committee commends the talented HopeCAT artists who created this amazing mural that commemorates the rich history of Camp Reynolds,” said Commissioner Coleman, Chair of the America250PA–Mercer County Committee. “We appreciate the support of the Greenville-Reynolds Development Corporation that has allowed the Mercer County community to honor the memory of the more than a million troops that passed through this camp. We encourage people to stop out and see this unique piece of art as they celebrate America’s 250th birthday.”

HopeCAT’s Executive Director Lorie Hines shared:

“This mural represents more than just art; it’s a tribute to the rich history and enduring spirit of our community. Camp Reynolds played a vital role in Mercer County’s history, and we’re proud to honor that legacy with this mural.”

The public unveiling of the mural will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 12pm, at Camp Reynolds (301 Arlington Dr, Greenville, PA 16125). Community members are encouraged to attend, take photos, and share them on social media using #HopeCAT and #America250PA.
