Alumni, students, and friends to celebrate No Place Like Homecoming at Thiel College

GREENVILLE, PA (09/22/2025) Fireworks, a downtown parade, and a classic film highlight Thiel College's Homecoming 2025, themed "No Place Like Homecoming," Sept. 25-28.

The theme draws inspiration from "The Wizard of Oz," which has captivated new audiences this year through its immersive run at the Las Vegas Sphere, where more than 500,000 tickets have been sold. Thiel will bring its own touch of Oz to Greenville, beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, with a Kickoff Rally and campus spirit photo, where the campus community will join the alumni network from around the world in sharing photos in Thiel gear, an event that celebrates the College's connection to the Greenville community, the Joining Generations cookout at St. Paul's Senior Living Community, and an evening screening of the classic film in Bly Hall.

Friday's schedule features the Blue-Gold Golf Outing, alumni career panels, and the Alumni Awards Dinner, which will honor Danielle (Hillwig) Doheny '10 , E. William Matthews '74 , and Steven Morgan, Ph.D. '15 . The dinner will also recognize Carl Hoffman Jr., D.O. '69, H'10 , and his wife, Theresa Hoffman H'16 , as an endowed chair in biology will be named in his honor. The evening concludes with a Pep Rally and a fireworks display, sponsored by Delta Sigma Phi, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Phantom Fireworks, at Alumni Stadium.

Saturday highlights include the ribbon cutting for the Frangakis Business Hub in the Daniel and Dorothy Spence Academic Center, the Homecoming Parade through downtown Greenville, and the Tomcats' football game against Waynesburg University. Alumni reunions will be held throughout the day, with special celebrations for the Classes of 1975, 1980, and 1985. The College's Chi Omega chapter will also mark its 75th anniversary with a gathering at Greenville Hall.

"Homecoming is always a time to celebrate the strength of the Thiel community, and this year's theme reminds us that there truly is no place like home," said Roberta Leonard , vice president for advancement. "Students often say Thiel felt like home when they were here, and it resonates even more deeply when alumni return. For some, it will take more than three clicks of their heels to get back to Greenville, but the memories and connections waiting here make the journey worthwhile."

The celebration closes Sunday with a Service of Remembrance, which honors alumni and friends who have passed away in the past year, in the David Johnson Chapel, the All-Tomcat Brunch at the TC Cafe, and the Presidents' Tree Walk. Related Links
