In 1978, Greenville community members came together with the desire to put on a show. At the at time, several, if not all, were members of St. Jude's Episcopal Church. The pastor’s wife offered to direct the show, “Guys & Dolls,” which was staged at the Greenville High School auditorium, complete with a pit band. No cast members were paid; to this day, it’s unknown how the show was paid for.

GASA’s mission is to promote soccer as a sport, properly organize soccer teams, provide training, and perpetuate the game of soccer by encouraging the values sportsmanship, courtesy, conduct, and respect. The youth of Northern Mercer County are the beneficiaries of the work the Greenville Area Soccer Association (GASA). Youth ranging in ages 5 to 20 participate in both recreational and travel programs sponsored by GASA. Currently GASA operates a spring and fall playing season.
